The cromlechau of North Pembrokeshire are most often located close to the coast or within the coastal hinterland, perhaps reflecting the sea-borne migratory patterns of Neolithic (New Stone Age) farmers. Megalithic monuments are early expressions of developing cultures and elite systems. The sites featured here were burial chambers, originally covered by earthen mounds, but stripped bare by centuries of exposure and erosion.

One of the most spectacular and best known of Pembrokeshire cromlechs, on the flanks of the Preseli Hills above the valley of the Nyfer.

Carreg Samson stands high above the sea and overlooks the tiny haven of Abercastle and the intimidating sea cliffs that extend to Strumble Head.

Between Newport and Moylgrove and commanding extensive views of Mynydd Carningli and the northern Preselis, source of the Bluestones of Stonehenge.

On the outskirts of Newport and within 0.5 km of the sea, Carreg Coetan lies close to the estuary of the Afon Nyfer, with views across Newport Bay.
